Important Notice from PELSB, dated January 8, 2019:

Minnesota Department of Education

First-Time Application Fee Increase

Effective January 1, 2019, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) increased its cost for fingerprint-based background checks.

As a result, PELSB has increased the paper application fee for first-time applicants from $89 to a fee of $90.25.

PELSB has updated all paper application forms on our website to reflect the new cost for applicants.

Please use the updated applications and advise your teacher licensure candidates accordingly.

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact Casey Carmody at casey.carmody@state.mn.us.

IF you currently have a substitute teaching license, your license application fee is $57 (NOT $90.25). Please be sure to include your “Minnesota File Folder Number” on your application!
