Diversity Affairs provides vision and leadership for the university’s diversity efforts through creative programming, effective consultation, and continuous collaboration with students, administrators, faculty and staff. The office sponsors cross-cultural programs and activities that provide opportunities for meaningful dialogue, interactions, and experiences that increase the knowledge, appreciation, trust and respect for students from all cultures.

The Dean of Diversity serves as an advocate and resource for the campus community, and strives to create and sustain supportive relationships with Concordia and the surrounding community. The Office of Diversity Affairs assists in creating a welcoming, inclusive, Christ-centered environment that promotes and celebrates the harmony of diversity that exists in the Concordia community. In agreement with and support of Concordia University’s mission statement-“to prepare students for thoughtful and informed living, for dedicated service to God and humanity, and for the enlightened care of God’s creation, all within the context of the Christian Gospel”- the Office of Diversity Affairs is dedicated to helping all students develop and/or maintain significant and wholesome spiritual lives.

What We Do?

  • Coordinate activities that promote awareness and celebration of all cultures, identities, and differences.
  • Develop supportive and sustaining relationships across diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Serve as an advocate and respond to needs, issues, and concerns impacting diversity throughout the campus.
  • Provide information and opportunities for student leadership, development, and scholarship.
  • Serve as advisors and a support system for student organizations.
  • Guide and direct students to on-and-off campus resources and services.
  • Provide students with encouragement, advice and alternatives to a variety of challenges and opportunities.
