
Day 1 – 19 May/Wed –Board your overnight transatlantic flight.
Day 2 – 20 May/Thu –Athens
Time to rest or to start exploring the Hellenic capital. At 6 pm, meet your Tour Director to depart the hotel for your welcome dinner. Sample a glass of ouzo and enjoy a Greek-style four-course dinner with drinks included at a taverna in the festive Plaka district. Folk dances put you in that special mood reminiscent of Zorba the Greek. (D)
Day 3 – 21 May/Fri –Athens-Mykonos
Depart Athens by FERRY to the mountainous island of Mykonos, one of the nicest and most charming towns of the Greek islands, with endless small streets, shops, windmills, churches, terraces and whitewashed houses. Check-in at your hotel where you will spend the next three nights. (B)
Day 4 – 22 May/Sat - Mykonos at Leisure
Mykonos is a place where you can wonder around for days and every time find something unexpected. Because of the street layout (intended to confuse pirates) it’s also the perfect place to lose your way. Sit and have a drink or something to eat and one of the two harbors while enjoying the views and the people that walk by on your day at leisure. (B)
Day 5 – 23 May/Sun – Mykonos at Leisure
An inseparable part of life on the harbor is the pelican, the island's mascot. It wanders through all the neighborhoods but prefers the harbor and Alevkantra. Perhaps you’ll be able to photograph this typical feature of Mykonos life on your second day at leisure. (B)
Day 6 – 24 May/Mon – Mykonos (Embarkation)
Your stay in Mykonos ends today. Store your luggage at the hotel and enjoy a full day at leisure to wander through narrow paved streets lined with trendy boutiques and shady tavernas. Return to the hotel this evening for a transfer to the pier for embarkation. (B)
Day 7 – 25 May/Tue – Kusadasi, Turkey and Patmos, Greece
Stop this morning in Kusadasi for an optional excursion to nearby Ephesus to see history come to life. This afternoon stop in Patmos, the island is known as the site of the apocalyptic revelations of St. John the Divine, written here during his exile from the Roman Empire. (B, L, D)
Day 8 – 26 May/Wed - Rhodes, Greece
The beautiful “Island of Roses” has a rich and varied history. On a hill above the charming town of Lindos rises an ancient acropolis dedicated to the goddess Athena. Below lies the bay of St. Paul, where the apostle landed during his voyages. (B, L. D)
Day 9 – 27 May/Thu - Crete (Heraklion) and Santorini, Greece
Heraklion is just three miles away from the fantastic ruins of the Palace of Knossos. Discovered in 1899 and partially reconstructed, the elaborate Palace is believed to be the mythical Labyrinth of King Minos and the seat of ancient Minoan culture. This afternoon stop at Santorini, perhaps the most breathtaking of all the Greek Islands. The town of Thira white-washed houses, narrow streets, open-air cafes and glittering boutiques cling to steep cliffs, accessible by cable-car or mule. (B, L, D)
Day 10 – 28 May/Fri - Piraeus, Greece (Disembarkation) - Athens
After breakfast on board, disembark at Piraeus and meet your local guide. Your Athens sightseeing tour features a visit to the Parthenon’s crowning beauty atop the ACROPOLIS, the Erechtheum with its Porch of Maidens, the beautifully preserved Theseum, Roman Temple of Zeus, Theater of Dionysus, and the Agora where Socrates taught. Vistas of the Royal Palace, government buildings, and elegant homes in the modern city provide a striking contrast to the remains of the glorious past. This evening admire the illuminated harbor of Microlimano before enjoying your four-course farewell dinner with drinks included at one of the city's finest restaurants. You'll have spectacular views of the Acropolis and Lycabettus Hill. (B,D)
Day 11 – 29 May/Sat – Depart Athens
Your homebound flight arrives the same day. (B)
