5) Laptops Move to Microsoft Office 2007; New CMS Search Underway
During summer 2008, CSP will be moving faculty, staff and students to Microsoft Office 2007 on University-owned computers. This week, the Information & Technology department would like to share an interactive program created by Microsoft to allow users to see how commands are different between Microsoft Word 2003 and Microsoft Word 2007. An example of a few different commands would be bolding text, performing a mail merge, and saving a file. These training tips, interactive demos and videos are dedicated to helping users become familiar with the product before they begin using the product and will help the campus community prepare for these changes before they occur in summer 2008. Past published tips, notes, and training products can be found at the IT support wiki. If you use a CSP-owned machine and would like to participate in a Beta test group of Microsoft Office 2007, please contact the Help Desk (x8866).
The IT office recently learned that Collage (the campus web authoring tool) will no longer be supported or provided with upgrades. Because of this, the decision has been made to investigate moving to another Content Management System. The process has just begun to make a well-informed decision on which product to choose. A committee has been formed to work on this changeover, but if you have any input as to what the University should look for as we move forward, please send your comments to Beth Peter. Further updates and details will be on the web services web site at http://concordia.csp.edu/WebsiteServices . Thank you for your support and patience as we make this decision and transition over the next months.
