4) CSP Student Named a Phillips Scholar

CSP junior Mao Lor is one of six students named to the Phillips Scholars Program by the Minnesota Private College Council.  The Phillips Scholars Program supports potential leaders with outstanding academic credentials who intend to dedicate a portion of their lives to community service.  Six competitively-selected Phillips Scholars are eligible to receive $15,250: a $5,250 junior-year scholarship; a $4,000 summer award to support the development and implementation of a self-designed service project to address unmet needs in Minnesota communities; $500 from the project resource pool; and a $5,000 senior year scholarship contingent on the successful completion of the summer project.  Mao’s project Hloo Tswv Yim (Share Ideas) is designed to enrich and assist Hmong immigrant families to strengthen parent and children relationships by acquiring better communication skills, better understanding of higher education and with more awareness of the community.
