Minnesota Career Information System
The Minnesota Career Information System is an important resource to use when making career and educational decisions.  MCIS is easy to use and widely available to high school students in Minnesota. It's designed to aid participants with career planning, career assessment tools, goal setting and making decisions.

The MCIS program includes:
• Over 500 different occupational descriptions have been revised, based on O*NET and state-based data
• Employment in traditional and nontraditional occupations
• Detailed information on national and Minnesota schools, plus a tool that helps to identify the school that meets your needs
• Detailed information on programs of study
• Scholarships and financial aid with a sorting tool that identifies scholarships to meet your criteria
• Job search and self-employment
• Military careers
• Minnesota industries
• Self-assessment tools
• My MCIS, an online portfolio

Features in MCIS include occupational videos, Internet links to resources and information for most higher education schools. Additional features include sorting tools that match interests, abilities and work preferences. Scholarships and post-secondary schools can also be sorted by personal preferences. For teachers, MCIS contains a module of about 450 career development and educational learning activities called PLAN (Practical Learning Activities). PLAN allows teachers to apply career developments and real-life experiences to their curriculum.

*MCIS is administered by the Minnesota Department of Education. Career resources for elementary and middle school students are also available. For more information about MCIS or other products, contact MCIS at 1.800.599.6247
