Why Use The Writing Center?

Recent research shows that those who use the Writing Center for class assignments and writing projects procrastinate less and turn in a better final draft.
To read the article that outlines the research findings, visit: Writing Center Users Procrastinate Less.

In September 2004, the Report of the National Commission on Writing published the results of a national survey of employers. The three overall findings of the report were:

(1) the skill employers value most over all others when hiring and promoting is writing;
(2) employers' biggest frustration is the substandard writing skills of their employees;
(3) one of the largest costs businesses face is training employees to write well.

Additional information about the survey and its results is available at: National Commission on Writing.
