Information for Community Partners
Our community partnerships are vitally important to Concordia's service-learning activities. We believe that effective and authentic service-learning is mutually beneficial. Community partners provide opportunities for students to learn and grow both personally and professionally, and for further exploration of social justice and course concepts.
It is helpful to remember that in service-learning, students are not "volunteers" who merely fulfill whatever tasks an agency needs accomplished. As Service-Learning staff, faculty, and community partner, we are co-educators together, nurturing and developing the students with whom we work. The service is as much an integral part of the learning experience as traditional instructional methods, and is as much a required component as readings and other assignments.
We work with numerous organizations throughout the Twin Cities area to meet community needs. If you are interested in forming a service-learning partnership with Concordia University, please complete the Community Partner Interest Form found on the Forms page. If you are currently a service-learning partner, please complete the Community Partner Survey, also found on the Forms page. Other relevant documents, including a manual on Risk Management and Liability in Service-Learning, can be found on the Documents to Download page. Find out what service-learning partnerships already exist on the Service-Learning Courses and Activities page.
