College of Education:
Several classes in the College of Education have attached "Human Relations" hours that students need to complete in order to get their teaching certification for the state of MN. These field experience hours are attached to specific classes and have specific themes, in blocks of 25 to total 100 over the course of an education major's academic career at CSP. These courses are:
Ed 200: Intro to Teaching (Pickel) - part is at PLUS Time and part in a Concordia-sponsored charter school, where 70-80% of the students receive free or reduced lunch
Ed 336: Educational Psychology (Moroz, Maly) - addresses the developmental level of students from multiple socioeconomic backgrounds and learning styles to be cognizant of brain-based and constructivist learning
Ed 439: Inclusive Classroom (Jochum) - working with students with disabilities or those at-risk, to implement strategies that can be effective in successively meeting the academic and social needs of students
Ed 330: Human Diversity (Robinson, Anderson) - work with non-native speakers of English or individuals who are culturally different from the candidates' own background
