These sources supplement those found on the FYS Research Portal and are specific to Dr. Bransford's class and assignments. For more help, contact your library liaison or stop by the Reference Desk.
Authentic Happiness--Dr. Martin Seligman's assessment tests and questionnaires. You will have to create a username & password to access the tests, but it takes just a couple of minutes.
American Psychological Association--provides links to new research on positive psychology. A good source to find out what's happening currently in the field.
Association for Psychological Science--also provides information on new research in the field, especially how positive psychology is being used to help people. Very useful in providing information on the practical side of positive psychology.
National Institute of Mental Health--a government website that provides information on new research being done.
There are several library-provided databases that are specific to psychology and these can provide a lot of useful information. The three most common ones are:
PsycARTICLES--From the American Psychological Association, it provides full-text articles.
PsycINFO--Also from the APA, this database provides citations and summaries. This can give you a good idea of what an annotation of an article should look like.
ProQuest Psychology Journals--Provides a lot of full-text articles. Once you do a search in ProQuest, it will show you a box of suggested topics. Use them to further your research, especially if you're stuck.
Tips for database searching:
Use quotes around phrases. This will help keep the results limited to exactly what you're looking for (ex: "positive psychology" will bring up articles with that phrase)
Use the databases to further your research--most of them provide 'suggested topics' or 'related search' boxes. If you're stuck, those can get you going again.
