Databases Learn how to use the databases specific to theatre, including JSTOR and Project Muse. The presentation includes an introduction to basic search methods (Boolean terms, keywords, full text, and subject headings) and those useful for the databases discussed.
CLICnet Learn how to use CLICnet in your research. You will learn about basic search methods and those specific to theatre.
Reference Collection/Early Stages of Research Learn how to start your research and what reference resources are available in the library. This session examines some of those sources: Concise Oxford Companion to the Theatre, Oxford Encyclopedia of Theatre & Performance, books on technical aspects, and other resources.
Web Resources The Supplementary Websites page provides links to various tools for finding reputable websites. This class will show you how to evaluate web sources and how they can enhance your research.
Non-Print Sources Learn how to incorporate non-print sources (videos/DVDs, CDs, computer software, etc.) into your course work. You will learn how to access these items and how to get them from other locations.
Journals: Print and Online Learn how to find journal articles both online and in print. This class will teach you how to find full text of an article when you only have the citation. ILL, Journal Finder with Article Finder, and various databases will be utilized.
Outside Sources Research doesn't have to end in the library. There are many other resources and this class will discuss them. Learn how listservs, blogs, digital collections, other libraries, and people resources can aid in your research.
PBS Video Database The database is a collection of videos from PBS' American History & Culture collection. Time periods covered run from the early 19th century to the present. The videos are housed at Bethel College, but can be sent over within 1-2 days. This course will teach you to search for videos, but also look at hundreds of links to timelines, music clips, images, and curricula.
