The priority to resolve Collage issues will be get Collage stable. After Collage is stable then the full deploy will be investigated.
We haven’t abandoned the idea of looking into finding a different CMS in the next few years, but I don’t see a change coming any time soon and we won’t be actively seeking a new CMS. The work and input of the CMS committee is greatly appreciated, however, and as we move forward with Collage if there are any small changes that could make your work easier, please let the web team know and we’ll see if they can be accommodated.

Collage update
The IT office recently learned that Collage (the campus web authoring tool) will no longer be supported or provided with upgrades. Because of this, the decision has been made to investigate moving to another CMS. The process has just begun to make a well-informed decision on which product to choose. A committee has been formed to work on this changeover, but if you have any input as to what we should look for as we move forward please send your comments to Beth Peter at peter@csp.edu. Further updates and details will be on the web services web site http://concordia.csp.edu/WebsiteServices . Thank you for your support and patience as we make this decision and transition over the next months.

Webinars
As you may or may not know, we are in the midst of a search for a new content management system (CMS) to replace Collage/Serena. A small team has been evaluating several products over the last few weeks and we are down to our top two candidates. This is where you can become involved to help us review the two products that we have remaining on our list. This evaluation committee is a mix of faculty and staff who use Collage at varying levels with varying expertise. Over the next two weeks I will be arranging webinars with the final two vendors so that they can do a demonstration for you on how their product works. In addition, we have limited time licenses of their two products so we can test them out on our own. Our goal is to choose a vendor in the next four to six weeks, and then work on purchasing and installing the product during the late summer/fall of 2009, so we can have all of our websites migrated off of Collage by spring 2010. I hope you will be able to help serve on this committee over the next few weeks. Besides the two webinars, there will be at least one additional meeting to get your input on the two products. This will help us make the best decision for the campus community when selecting our new CMS.If you have any questions, please let me know. Otherwise, look for two webinar meetings to be posted to your calendars. With such a large group it will be hard to find a time that can accommodate all of us, so if you are unable to attend the meeting I will make sure to have the test products available to you.

Collage News
§ CMS Vendor Resources – places where we found vendors to research or resources we used to collect CMS vendors
§ CMS Vendors Contacted – the CMS vendors we contacted
§ CMS Evaluations – CMS vendors we evaluated, links to their demos etc. You may want to have an “Evaluations” folder and then in each folder have a folder for each vendor or maybe a folder for Evaluations with just pages named after each vendor we are evaluating – you decide. Typically I create folders which help organizing and planning for growth of the information…but whatever – you have great judgment so I’ll let you decide.
§ CMS Technology – technologies we are looking for (e.g. ease of use, social networking: blogs, forums, chats etc)
§ CMS Informational downloads – I have case studies, and other documents to link to
