Counseling Services Staff

Dr. Daniel (Dan) Hess is Concordia’s Director of Counseling Services. Prior to joining Concordia in September 2009, he worked as a counselor in multiple community settings and at several colleges and universities, including the University of California, Berkeley, Augsburg College, Carleton College, Hamline University and the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Hess holds a Ph.D from the University of Minnesota, Dissertation entitled “The Mental Health Sequelae and Treatment of Massive Community Violence in West Africa”, researched in collaboration with the Center for Victims of Torture, Minneapolis. He also completed internship and fellowship experiences at the University of California, Berkeley. He earned his M.A. in Psychology from Adler Graduate School in Minneapolis, M.A. in Journalism from the University of Minnesota, and B.A. in Biology and Geology from Macalester College.
He is a member of the American Psychological Association, Association for College and University Counseling Center Directors, and Psychologists for Social Responsibility.

Lea Huber is a doctoral intern with Concordia for the 2009/2010 school year. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2004 from Northern Arizona University and is currently attending Argosy University-American School of Professional Psychology. Lea has experience working in an inpatient psychiatric unit, conducting neuropsychological testing and working within community mental health centers. She enjoys cooking, swimming and music.
