Self Reflection
It may be helpful to slow down and reflect on all you have learned about yourself thus far. Reviewing what you have discovered about your values, personality, skills and interests is an important step. Ask yourself:
- What patterns or trends do you see?
- What did you learn that affirmed what you already knew?
- What did you learn that surprised you?
The hope is that this inner journey will provide new and different insights. Consider sharing these findings with a Career Counselor, a trusted friend or a family member. Try to keep an open mind to new ideas and perspectives.
Take some time to record what you have learned by sending a letter or email to yourself, creating a journal entry, or writing a reflection essay. Writing is often a good way to process what you have learned as well as document your discoveries.
Here are some resources that might help guide your reflections:
Self Reflection Questionnaire Here you consider questions that you allow you to ponder your background in perhaps new and different ways. Print out this file and gather more paper or a journal to keep track of your responses.
Your Mission Statement Here you can create a personal mission statement that can guide you through the CareerPlan process.
