Book of the Year Chapel Services followed by discussion groups |
|
I am pleased to announce that the 2007-2008 Concordia University, St. Paul Book of the Year is Life Together by Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
First, with the completion of our Chapel addition, 2007-2008 is a good year to think about campus and individual spiritual vitality.
Second, academically, the book relates to a wide range of interests including psychology, sociology, European or WWII history, theology, ethics, non-violence or active resistance, political science, criminal justice, communication, education in contrast to propaganda and even the literature, art or music related to Nazi Germany. Even economics and business, of course, were greatly affected by the policies and events that created the events leading to Bonhoeffer's writing this book.
I pray that the book will lead us to appreciate more the blessing, the opportunity, the challenge and the effort of life together here at Concordia University, St. Paul. Special thanks to the members of the committee for their leadership and labor in identifying this book as our Book of the Year for 2007-2008. President Robert Holst
